EJeep Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the EJeep mobile app and the related services used to operate account access, live map features, and location sharing for students, drivers, and administrators.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: name, email address, role (student, driver, or admin), and account identifier associated with Firebase Authentication.
Login credentials: email address and password are used for authentication. The app uses Firebase Authentication for sign-in and account management. The app itself does not store your plaintext password in its own database.
Precise location data: latitude and longitude when you enable live location sharing in the app.
Location quality and motion data: accuracy, calculated or device-reported speed, role label, and update timestamps associated with live location updates.
Operational account details: some driver accounts may be created by an administrator using the driver's name, email address, and assigned role.
Map service requests: when maps are displayed, map tile requests are sent to third-party map tile providers used by the app.

3. How We Use Information

To create and manage user accounts.
To authenticate users and control access by role.
To display live student and driver positions on the map for operational use.
To show location freshness, accuracy, and movement-related information such as speed where available.
To support admin functions such as driver account creation and live operations oversight.
To maintain service reliability, diagnose issues, and protect the app from misuse.

4. When Location Is Collected

EJeep requests location permission to provide live tracking features. Precise location is collected only when a user enables location sharing or otherwise uses a feature that depends on live location.

On Android, the app also uses a foreground location service for live tracking while sharing is active. On iOS, the current app configuration uses location while the app is in use.

5. Who Can See Your Data Inside the App

Students can view live driver locations.
Drivers can view live student locations.
Administrators can view user profile information and live locations for operational management.

6. Third-Party Services and Sharing

EJeep uses third-party service providers to operate the app. These providers may process data on our behalf:

Google Firebase Authentication for account sign-in and identity management.
Google Firebase Cloud Firestore for user profiles and live location records.
Map tile providers including CARTO and OpenStreetMap endpoints used to render map tiles in the app.

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of the app, its users, or others.

7. Data Retention

Account profile data is retained while the account remains active in EJeep.
Live location data is stored as the user's current location record and updated while location sharing is active.
When location sharing is stopped through the app, the app attempts to remove the current live location record.
If a session ends unexpectedly, the last location record may remain until it is updated, removed administratively, or otherwise cleaned up.
Service providers may retain limited technical logs, backups, or security records for operational and compliance purposes.

8. Security

We use Firebase services, role-based access rules, and platform permission controls to help protect personal data. No system can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect account and location information used by the app.

9. Your Choices

You can choose whether to grant location permission through your device settings.
You can stop live location sharing from within the app where that control is available.
You may request access, correction, or deletion assistance by contacting us using the contact details below.

10. Children's and Student Use

EJeep is designed for campus or transport operations involving students, drivers, and administrators. If you believe personal data has been provided inappropriately or without proper authorization, contact us so we can review the request.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of EJeep after changes take effect means the updated policy will apply.
